The Oakland Emiliano Zapata Street Academy born out of the Civil Rights and Black Power Movements has partnered with the Oakland Unified School District as a semi-autonomus OUSD school for over 50 years. We provide social justice-centered instruction in an alternative school in Oakland and for Bay Area youth. STREET ACADEMY FOUNDATION JOB SUMMARY High School Math (Algebra 1-2; Geometry Math Analysis) and/or Life ScienceWho were looking for: - Strong commitment to interrupting the school-to-prison pipeline. - High expectations & ability to establish relationships with students & families - Bachelors degree eligible for employment in the US pass a criminal background check possess or be eligible to receive a California teaching credential authorizing instruction in core curriculum. -We offer professional development training and mentorship through Oakland Unified School Districts Alternative Education Department and the Street Academy Foundation Boards Academic Affairs Committee. -Training to develop students Social Emotional Learning through Dynamic Mindfulness and Restorative Justice. -Small Class Sizes - 20:1 student/teacher ratio -Shared decision-making processes & Collaborative professional learning. -Medical dental and retirement benefits Additional requirements: Resume Cover Letter; Proof of passing CBEST and CSET (or qualify for a waiver); Two professional references; Negative TB Test.
